It's true that dental insurance is not true insurance, but that's about the only thing correct in this article. It's not insurance because it doesn't insure against catastrophic events. Dental expense is very predictable. A better description is that dental benefits are (for the most part) employers helping employees pay their dental expenses.

It is always amusing to me how many individuals assume insurance companies must be making money hands-over-fist, using the $1,000 gift card theory. The reality is that insurance dollars get pooled - some individuals use less than premium amounts; some use more. An average profit for a dental insurance company is less than 5%.

Dentsits should really think twice about criticing insurance too much (not that a hefty amount of criticism isn't justified in a lot of cases due to their administrative ineptitude) because of the roughly $90 billion dollars spent on dentistry in the US, insurance companies are in the middle of about $60 billion. Do dentists really think that all of that would still end up in their pockets if employers gave that money to employees rather than insurance companies?

Study after study has shown that increased marketing during a recession results in a great return on investment. For more evidence of this take a look at http://www.marketingfordentalspecialists.com/features/marketing-dental-practice-recession/.

I had the same question 2 years ago! lol. I opted to be a medical assistant, just to get my foot in the door and too see if i would like to become a nurse in the future.

Medical assistant - generally work in Physician's offices. They are trained in medical terminology, to take vitals signs (temp, blood pressure and such), to assist the dr/nurse with all sorts of procedures (from gynecology, to taking ekgs and such), and they are also trained in taking blood and administring shots. They are pretty much as important as a nurse. The doctors really rely on you. Without you their life would be a hectic mess! lol

A nursing assistant might work in home health care, nursing homes, and/or acute care settings like a hospital. They are able to take vital signs, assist patients with personal care (washing, cleaning, dressing, eating). They do clean up after people it is part of their job, they are more connected with their patients.

As far as I know Medical assistants do get paid more then a nursing assistant does. It may be different in each state, but however in IL medical assistants get paid a few bucks more than a nursing assistant would.

This is a question you ask yourself....don't let someone else decide your future. Choose what you want or people will be deciding what YOU want for the rest of your life.

I amtaking online courses for a medical assistant..But I think that a nurse assistant would make more money...I think both of them are in great demand. even though the economy is bad they will always need health care jobs..if you go to www.salary.com and type in the occupation and your zip code it will tell you an estimate on what they make..good luck!

You will get a job faster and make more money if you go go somewhere OTHER THAN EVEREST! They inflate their graduation rates, job prospects, and graduates' potential earnings. BEWARE!

Well, that is a loaded question. You have to consider a couple of things - the main one is the amount of opportunities for each choice in your area. If you choose an area that does not have a lot of openings, competition will be stiff and you may not land a job. So, search some career sites to see what the opportunities are for each job in your area. Once you target those that have a lot of opportunities, go to a salary wizard - yahoo's HotJobs has one on the bottom of their page. You will need to input the job title and the area you are working in to get a good feel for what each job pays.
Hope that helps.
